1 St George's Lane, EC3R 8DJ
Twenty years on the same corner of the City. Since 2005.
Steam opened in 2005, when EC3 was still the kind of place that took a phone call to find. We have not moved. We have not been bought by a chain. We have not dropped the lunch service to chase the cocktail crowd. We are still where we have always been, a short walk from Lloyd's, Monument and Bank.
The venue is a basement. That matters. It is what makes it feel like yours for the afternoon. You descend the steps, the noise of Lombard Street drops away, and you land in a room that is only yours.
Public lunches
Open to everyone, Monday to Thursday.
A proper City lunch, without the booking faff. Walk in, or reserve a table. Two courses, three courses, or a bar snack and a glass. The kitchen runs 12 to 3, the bar runs later.
Hours. Monday to Thursday 12:00 to 17:00 for public lunches. Bar stays open later Tuesday to Thursday for drop-ins.

For speaker lunches, private dinners, seated corporate entertaining
The Dining Room
The heart of the venue and the home of every speaker lunch we have ever hosted. Long tables or round, depending on the event. Eighty covers maximum, smaller when a drinks reception needs space at the back. Natural separation from the bar, which means the room stays yours once the speaker starts.
The Dining Room
Space Three
For boardroom dinners, intimate events, meetings that need a door
The Private Room
Smaller, quieter, deliberately so. Seats up to twenty around a single table, or can be reset as a cabaret format for thirty. Perfect for the conversations that need to happen without a room full of strangers nearby. Client dinners, board briefings, milestone celebrations, the evening after a deal finally closes.

Finding us
One minute from Monument. Less if you run.
1 St George's Lane sits in the cluster of EC3 streets that most of the City has walked past without noticing on the way to Monument, Bank, or Cannon Street. We like that. It means our regulars know where to come, and everyone else gets to discover us.
Closest stations are Monument and Bank, both on foot within three minutes. Cannon Street, Fenchurch Street, and Liverpool Street are all within a ten minute walk for anyone coming in from outside London.
- Monument (District, Circle)2 min walk
- Bank (Central, Northern, Waterloo & City, DLR)4 min walk
- Cannon Street (District, Circle, National Rail)5 min walk
- Liverpool Street (Elizabeth Line, multiple)9 min walk
