The Profile
The golf career behind the headlines.
Thomas Bjorn is the most decorated golfer Denmark has ever produced. Fifteen European Tour victories, three Ryder Cup appearances as a player, and one as a captain, when he led Europe to a decisive victory over the United States at Le Golf National in Paris in 2018. That captaincy is generally regarded as one of the most effective team leadership performances in modern Ryder Cup history.
He came closest to winning a major at the Open Championship at Royal St George's in 2003, where he led by three strokes with four holes to play and then collapsed in a way that has become one of the most painful finishes in the history of major golf. He has been open in the years since about how long it took to process that afternoon and what it taught him about top level golf.
Post-playing, he has moved into administration, coaching, and after-dinner speaking. His events on the Ryder Cup, on captaincy, and on the psychology of playing under pressure are among the most thoughtful speaker content in the golf ecosystem.
“The Ryder Cup is not a golf tournament. It is a leadership exam. I think I learned more in the week of the 2018 Ryder Cup than I did in twenty years on tour.”

Thomas Bjorn at Steam
Thomas spoke at Steam in May 2025. His account of the 2018 Ryder Cup captaincy, and the specific moments of tactical decision making during the Sunday singles, was one of the most illuminating speaker evenings we have hosted on the subject of team leadership.
