Cookies

Cookie Policy.

The short, transparent version of what we store and why.

Last updated: 15 April 2026. This document applies to steamwinebar.com, fresh.steamwinebar.co.uk, and all associated Steam Wine Bar Ltd web properties.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They allow us to remember things like your preferences, understand how the site is being used, and keep you signed in if you have an account with us. Some cookies are essential for the site to work. Others are optional and are only set if you consent.

Your rights over how we use cookies are protected by the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and, where cookies process personal data, by the UK GDPR.

2. The cookies we use

We keep our cookie use as minimal as possible. Below is a full list of the cookies set by steamwinebar.com and fresh.steamwinebar.co.uk.

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the website to function. They cannot be switched off in our systems and are usually only set in response to actions you take, such as filling in a booking form or setting your privacy preferences.

  • cookie_consent: stores your cookie preferences so we do not re-prompt you on every page (expires after 12 months)
  • session identifiers: used by our booking and enquiry forms to remember your progress within a single visit (expires when you close your browser)

Analytics cookies

These help us understand how visitors use the site in aggregate. The data is anonymised at the earliest reasonable point and is never used to identify an individual. They are only set if you have opted in via our cookie banner.

  • _ga, _ga_*: set by Google Analytics to distinguish unique visitors and measure page views (expires after 14 months)

Functional cookies

These remember choices you make (for example, which region or menu view you prefer) so we do not ask you again. They are only set if you have opted in.

3. How to manage your cookie preferences

When you first visit our site, we display a cookie banner asking whether you accept analytics and functional cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clicking the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page, which will re-open the banner.

You can also manage cookies directly through your browser:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Apple Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

Please note that blocking or deleting strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the website working properly (for example, the booking and enquiry forms).

4. Third-party cookies

Where we embed content from third parties (for example, a Google Map showing the venue location, or a video player), those third parties may set their own cookies. We have no control over how they are used. Their cookie policies can be found on their own websites.

5. Changes to this policy

We may update this cookie policy as we add or remove services. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version.

6. Where to go next

For a full explanation of how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy. For the terms that apply to your booking or event, see our Terms and Conditions.
